Legal Experience

I have been in private practice since being admitted to the Indiana Bar on November 13, 2000 except for four and one-half years I served as a full-time public defender.

I have had a diverse practice in many areas of the law. I have appeared in many Indiana courts and, accordingly before many different judges.

I have served clients in all areas of domestic relations and family law. This includes dissolutions of marriage, post-dissolution practice, custody battles, child support, paternity actions, guardianships, adoptions, child in need of services proceedings, and terminations of parental rights.

I have also maintained a significant criminal law practice. This is noteworthy because much of an Indiana judge’s time is spent handling criminal matters.

I represent clients in many other areas of the law as well. These include, but are not limited to, civil litigation, appellate practice, business organization, small claims, landlord-tenant matters, transactional matters, real estate matters, estate planning, estate administration, driver’s license issues, expungements, professional licensing issues, and zoning / land use issues. I also briefly handled bankruptcies.

In 2019, I was certified as a mediator. Serving as a mediator requires me to craft unique solutions to resolve conflicts between litigating parties. Mediation requires patience, attention to details, and careful listening. These are characteristics shared by the best judges before whom I have appeared.

I have represented clients in approximately twenty jury trials (from jury selection through verdict). I have also represented clients in many more bench trials. These actual in-court experiences require me to be well-versed in rules of trial procedure, criminal procedure, and evidence. I remain informed on current legal precedent.
